Ok, so I'm not really a farmer, but with the recent rash of farm simulation games out there, I feel like I've got a somewhat lazy perspective on what it 'might' be like. I started out playing around with Farmville, but quickly got bored. It was too easy. For anyone with this same predicament, I've got a little treat for you. I've recently discovered the new facebook app called 'Barn Buddy', and I must say that I've been playing a little too much.
Barn Buddy is a little like other games in it's genre, however it offers more micro-management options in the growing of your crops. Once you begin the game, you are confronted with a screen that gives a quick explanation of how things work, and it's quite informative. It's enough to get you started, along with a couple plants ready to harvest, and some work to be done so you get the hang of it. In order to keep your plants healthy, you must monitor they health status, and watch out for bugs and weeds which can ultimately devastate your crops.
Planting, harvesting, weeding, and debugging your crops yields experience, which once a certain amount has been reached, will cause you to go up in level, allowing you more options. Barn Buddy, like many other games that have become trendy on social networking sites, is also based on the amount of friends you can convince to play. You can add neighbors, and visit their farms, and in adding neighbors, the game rewards you by unlocking yet more options.
You also have the option (of course) to spend some of your hard earned dollars (you know, that green stuff you get when you work in that real life place?) on items and upgrades in the game.
