Got some free time and a Facebook account? Fantastic, cause I need more neighbors for Barn Buddy. If you've been under a rock, there's been a recent craze in 'farming simulators' on social networking sites. Maybe it's dumb, I dunno, but I can't seem to pry myself away from it. As ashamed as I am to admit it, I'm hooked.

It all started with Farmville for me, though with not enough to really do, I got bored with it after a while and began searching for something with a little more substance. I found it in Barn Buddy. This game, unlike others, gives a little more spotlight to the actual crops, causing you to care for them.
Like on a real farm, there are constant worries of weeds and insects destroying your crops, and causing other problems. Well, Barn Buddy gives a little more focus on this aspect than other games do. From time to time, you must check up on your crops. You do this by checking your plant for bugs and weeds. Each issue has its own respective tool of course, that being weed killer and insecticide. On top of this, you must also insure that each of your plants is well watered, when it isn't the ground it is planted in has a dried up appearance. All of this affects the plants 'health bar', which you must remember to monitor. Each of these factors can influence the amount harvested from each plant.
On top of all this, the game has a few other similarities with other social networking games. Such as the more friends you have playing means more of the game that you can access. A clever and effective marketing maneuver, if I do say so myself. You also have the option to purchase in game currency and items with some of your hard earned dough, which isn't something I'm likely to day, but its nice to have the option available to you.
