Ever wanted to be a farmer? Yea, I never really wanted to either. I mean, I have enough of a farmer's tan already, I don't need it to get full blown on me. Well, in case you ever HAVE dreamt of plowing the fields and raising pigs, there's a veritable cornucopia out there of farm simulators.

I think the craze started back in the days of the Super Nintendo (SNES), when the game 'Harvest Moon' was released. This was an RPG that put you in the shoes of a new arrival to a small and quite farming town to take over the duties as ranch owner. The series saw a few successful sequels, and though I enjoyed the franchise, it's almost as if it were swept under the rug.

Lately, there has been a bit of a reemergence of the farm simulation craze, this time however, it has crossed paths with the ever popular social networking craze that has the world in it's vice like grips. Even my mother has a Facebook, which she is on CONSTANTLY! So, if you've been under a rock, you may not have heard, but farming is IN baby. The latest game in the craze (and there's no doubt that it won't be the last) is Barn Buddy. This game, like some of the others in the genre, gives you your own plot of land with which you can grow a wide range of different flowers and fruit bearing plants.

Unlike many other farming games, Barn Buddy has a little more focus on caring for the individual plants. In this game, you must monitor the health of your plants, which can be affected by weeds and bug infestations. In order to combat these problems, you are equipped with pesticide, and weed killer in your arsenal.

As you play Barn Buddy, you receive experience points (or exp) for completed tasks such as planting, harvesting, and tending to your crops. This allows you to attain higher levels, which in turn unlocks more portions of the game. Along with this, there are other methods to unlock new portions of the game, such as convincing your friends to play and adding them as neighbors, as well as spending real money. While the latter may seem like a bad idea, it allows Zynga (the company that released it) to continue producing games to provide to you for free, and it's also nice to have the option if you get really into it.

Well, I think I've given you enough to make a decision on whether or not this game is for you, so I'm gonna go play Barn Buddy now'It's really not a problem'I can quit it at any time'
